Wordless Wednesday: Stroll through Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Fla.
Over the weekend I visited the beautiful Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Fla., with the primary purpose of smelling that rare, stinky flower in bloom. Having traveled an hour’s drive (one way), I decided to make the most of the visit and spent an hour walking the grounds and soaking up the bountiful blooms.
Although it was a little hot, I took shade under the trees and inside the Conservatory. Enjoy these snapshots.

If ya live in Southwest Florida then you certainly know the 32nd Annual Florida International Air Show took place last weekend at the Punta Gorda Airport. The show dazzled attendees with amazing aerobatics, military jet demonstrations, historic displays and other exhibits.
Thursday before the show, not only did I have an incredible flight experience with Team RV, the world’s largest air show team, but I had the honor of seeing the U.S. Navy Blue Angels team arrive AND interview Capt. Benjamin Blanton USMC, although I’m pretty sure I unintentionally insulted him. Well, he was very cool about it and it’s a story for another time, as well as my interview with him.
Did you miss the Florida International Air Show but still want to catch the Blues? View their schedule on the Blue Angels’ website (www.blueangels.navy.mil).
Enjoy these Blue Angels snapshots taken before the start of the Florida International Air Show.

Spectators waiting for the show (sunset) at Beach Road and Avenida Messina, Siesta Key, Sarasota, Fla.
Sadly, I don’t take advantage of my coastal location to enjoy the nightly sunsets. It seems they’re only a scheduled event when I have visitors from out of town. Last Friday, I enjoyed this Siesta Key sunset spectacular with my mom at the corner of Beach Road and Avenida Messina. It reminded me a very tiny bit like Mallory Square in Key West, back in the day before performers and development.
Hope you enjoy this sunset and the accompanying video.

Looking for a place in Florida to spot alligators? Although not a guarantee – since gators are wild animals – Shark Valley in Everglades National Park is a pretty good bet to spot one. Alligators are pretty cool animals and definitely need to be respected.
Enjoy these snapshots of the prehistoric reptile in all its Everglades glory.
