Blue Crabs! Peace River Seafood's 10th Anniversary Party, Punta Gorda, Fla., Feb. 2, 2013

Blue Crabs! Peace River Seafood’s 10th Anniversary Party, Punta Gorda, Fla., Feb. 2, 2013

How fresh are the blue crabs at Peace River Seafood in Punta Gorda, Fla.? I’ve seen boats pulled by trailers roll in and unload bucket loads of crabs which are quickly taken into the kitchen. Pies and Plates in Punta Gorda, Fla., Known for Delish Gooey Butter Cake

Pies and Plates in Punta Gorda, Fla., Known for Delish Gooey Butter Cake

Happy Friday! What do you have planned for the weekend? I’m heading home to Buffalo to attend a wedding in Amish Country (Pennsylvania). I’ll be there for less than 48 hours but will make the most of it.

For today’s Feel Good Friday post, thought I’d brighten your day with this funny video called “Two Dogs Dining.” It’s been circulating the web since January but thanks to the bistro Pies and Plates in Punta Gorda, Fla., I found out about it through their newsletter. Pies and Plates is a great Southwest Florida restaurant serving up an eclectic mix of sandwiches, salads and dessert. They serve up the best Gooey Butter Cake in Florida! See the photo above?

Before enjoying, know that the dogs were not hurt during the filming of the video.

Bon appetite!

I Used Groupon for this Roasted Duck Dinner at Torch Bistro, Punta Gorda, Fla.

I didn’t “get” the Groupon craze until I made my first purchase a couple of weeks ago and my first redemption today. It’s my understanding Groupon works this way: a set number of people need to buy into a “deal.”

Deals range in value between 50 and 90 percent off. This is where the name “Groupon” comes in, a “group” of people are needed to buy into a “coupon.” As mentioned, a specific number of people need to buy into it so once that number is reached, you receive an email notification letting you know the deal has tipped and it’s on, baby! That’s when your credit card is charged, once the deal is on.
