Showing Off My Southwest and Central Florida
Living in Florida means living in the world’s top tourism destination and traveling to Orlando is a breeze. Oftentimes I need to remind myself how fortunate I am living so close to attractions others take years of planning before visiting. I’m always reminded how lucky I am when friends visit.

Earlier this week I was back out at Babcock Wilderness Adventures in Punta Gorda, Florida, for a meeting which included a tour of the working cattle ranch and Telegraph Swamp. Holy clay coolness! Pottery Express and Bamboo Farm in Punta Gorda, Florida, is pretty amazing. I had heard it had quite a few pieces of decorative and artistic pottery from Mexico and Asia, I just didn’t realize the how much until I visited over the weekend. Wow! Inside, it was row upon row of decorative planters, colorful clay sinks, and figurines in varying shapes and sizes. Most items are for sale while others are on display as cultural museum pieces.

Last week I had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes tour of Peace River Wildlife Center in Punta Gorda, Fla. The nonprofit organization is supported 100 percent by donations and do an amazing job nurturing Florida’s native wildlife back to health and caring for those orphaned for whatever reason.
Wildlife receives tender care with the intention of being returned to their natural habitat but if for whatever reason they can’t return to the wild, the animals will have a permanent home at the Center. During my visit, I saw injured and orphaned wildlife being cared for and also saw wild and native birds hanging out.
Enjoy these snapshots.
