Can’t wait to write a blog post about this experience! Florida continues to amaze me with incredible sights and adventures. A visit to the bat houses at the University of Florida in Gainesville last night was a true treat. Enjoy this video.

Last month I told you about The Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010. Probably the world’s largest beach rally, all 825 miles of the Sunshine State’s beaches will be walked and photographed the same morning to show the world how fantastic the beaches are. I’m happy to share more information…

It’s no secret I’m a bit of a foodie. Yesterday I headed to Fort Lauderdale and with the help of technology, found a tasty and hospitable little taco joint called Alegria Tacos. My primary purpose to the east coast was to help out the roller derby league I belong by scorekeeping for their final bout…

Not sure about you but I’m ready to put misconceptions about the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill’s impact (or lack of) on Florida’s beaches behind and move forward. It was a bit rainy due to Tropical Storm Bonnie heading our way (which later fizzled out) but they still enjoyed the great outdoors of Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands. Following a shallow water wading trip with the Charlotte Harbor Environmental…

So much to share about this weekend but little time. While it’s fresh on my mind, want to share my impressions about a place called Blackrock Beach (or Black Rock Beach, or beach at the end of Black Rock Trail or Dead Tree Beach) in Big Talbot Island State Park, Florida. It’s fantastical yet, eerie.

You can’t call yourself a Floridian if you haven’t scalloped before. No, not “scalping” but the act of collecting scallops. This is one of the coolest – figuratively and literally – activities I have done and had the chance to do it last year in Citrus County, Fla. (You know, Homosassa Springs and Crystal River.)

Media frenzy is causing quite a stir in Florida lately. Tourism is our livelihood and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is casting a dark cloud of negative attention over the Sunshine State. Vacationers are rethinking their vacation plans because of the “what if” scenario. “What if there is oil on the beach when I visit?”
