
Less than three weeks from now, thousands of Star Wars fans and I will be heading to Orlando (or Lando if some fans have their way) for Star Wars Celebration V. Yes, I’m heading to a Star Wars convention to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Oh, c’mon. You can’t say that you’re surprised.
It’s not the autograph sessions with Star Wars legends as Carrie Fisher or Mark Hamill. Nope. And it’s not the Main Event with George Lucas being interviewed by Jon Stewart that has me jazzed up. It’s Star Wars Speed Dating. (more…)

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade, June 20, 2010
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando opened on Friday and today I spent about four hours in the attraction. Was it worth the drive? I’m still mulling that over but initially, I’m saying “yes.” Here are my quick thoughts about my experience. (more…)

ICE! ICE! Baby! Sorry, couldn’t resist…
Gaylord Palms (6000 W. Osceola Parkway) in Kissimmee, Fla., has a pretty COOL exhibit running since Nov. 14 through Jan. 3, 2010, called ICE! It’s two million pounds of frozen water carved into amazing sculptures in which visitors can admire but not touch nor lick. (There was a sign warning about this bad behavior.) Although in its seventh season, this is the first year I’ve been able to enjoy the balmy 9 degrees Fahrenheit temps in the resort’s convention center. It’s what my friend Annette and I did during her fourth day in the Sunshine State. My friend came and went last week and although some time was spent locally in Southwest Florida, most was spent in Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort. Okay, I know Disney really isn’t in Orlando but if I said in Lake Buena Vista, would you know where that is? (more…)

LEGO Store, Downtown Disney, Fla.
Central Florida brings the kid out in me and when visiting Downtown Disney Sunday, HAD to visit the LEGO store to see how far the plastic toy has come. My, my, how LEGO’s grown up. This photo is of the store’s back wall and the million little pieces LEGO fans can purchase – even pink bricks!
