There’s nothing like escaping to the mountains for a little R&R and that’s just what I did last weekend. And, I stayed within Florida. My little getaway was to Mount Dora which towers 182 feet above sea level, the second highest elevation in Florida.

I rubbed the nose of a camel, felt the tongue of a giraffe, and fed grapes to ring-tailed lemurs last weekend and it was a totally amazing experience. Best of all, I didn’t need a passport. These and other animals live a seemingly happy life at Giraffe Ranch, a 47-acre private property just a 45 minute drive north of Tampa in Dade City, Fla.

Paddling has become one of my favorite vacation activities and after learning about kayak tours in North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands, I’m guessing I’d dig what they have to offer. Sitting at more than 9,000 feet above sea level, we […]

This post contains affiliate links and I may make a small commission. “Life is good,” I thought while sipping champagne and drifting up Keystone’s North Peak in a gondola. Final destination was Keystone Resort’s […]

“Colorado Rocky Mountain High…” I’ve been singing that little John Denver ditty for the past couple of weeks, once it was determined that yes indeed, I WILL be heading off to the annual Travel Blog Exchange Conference (TBEX) in Keystone, Colo., June 15 – 17. Woo-hoo! Cool An’ Green An’ Shady I’m looking forward to […]

Can you eat on $1.50 a day? No, that’s not a typo and not meant to be “$1.50 a meal” but $1.50 a day. I received an email last month from a representative with the Global Poverty Project alerting me to the Live Below the Line Campaign taking place May 7 – 11, 2012, in […]
